Neos Aliakmon is one of the largest cooperatives in Central Macedonia. Since 1968, when it was founded by a group of producers, it has demonstrated a remarkable development in the fields of production, distribution and marketing of fresh fruit.
The cooperative consists of 630 producer – active members – who currently cultivate approximately 15,000 acres of land in the fertile valley created by the Aliakmonas river.
More than 30 million kilos of fresh fruit are produced, preserved and packaged by Neos Aliakmonas Coop every year, with the majority of them being exported to EU countries. as well as in third countries of Eastern Europe, while in recent years also in new markets of Asia and the Middle East.
The annual turnover of Neos Aliakmon Coop exceeds €12,500,000. In addition, the coop supports the local community, providing more than 200 permanent and seasonal staff jobs. It has modern sorting-packing facilities, cold rooms, storage rooms and other areas, which have state-of-the-art mechanical equipment.
Neos Aliakmon Coop’s main concern at every stage of production is to ensure the quality of the products that will reach the consumer, while respecting the environment and the natural wealth of the area.
The cooperative has obtained the certification of the production process according to the ISO 9001:2000, ISO 22000:2005, IFS, BRC, Sedex and Smeta standards while in addition it implements an integrated management system according to the AGRO 2.1 2.2 standards and the GLOBALG.A.P protocol.
